Pros & Cons
- Very sturdy and lightweight cassette, because it's cut from a single piece of aluminium.
- Shifts flexibly and fast due to the precision cut.
- The titanium-nitride coating makes the cassette very wear-resistant.
- Golden colour spices up your bicycle!
- Due to the large openings in the cassette, dirt and mud are less likely to accumulate.
- This cassette is aimed at cross-country mountain biking. Choose the XG-1295 for enduro use.

Technology
Different gear ratiosYou can choose between a 10/50 and a 10/52 cassette. The advantage of the 10/50 cassette is that the gap between the sprockets is smaller, so you can keep a better cadence. The advantage of the 10/52 is that you can pedal very lightly, even if you have to climb up to 20% during a bikepacking trip!
Compatible with SRAM XD body
This 12-speed cassette fits the existing XD driver. This means the distance between the sprockets is reduced and therefore the chain is also narrower. X-Glide 2 is the latest generation of the SRAM X-Glide technology, optimized for the Eagle 12-speed cassette. It delivers fast and precise shifting performance under load throughout the entire gear range and increases the grip of the chain on the larger sprockets.
• Cassette: XG-1299 12-speed 10-50 (357 grams)*

Assembly
SRAM XD(R) bodyThis cassette is only compatible with an XD(R) body. With this type of body the cassette is a single piece. You slide the cassette over the body and then you can tighten the lockring. When installing an MTB XD cassette on an XDR body, a 1.85 mm spacer should be placed in between.
Don't forget the assembly grease!
The lockring on your cassette should be tightened up, in most cases up to 40Nm. To be able to loosen the cassette, we recommend you to apply a little bit of assembly paste to the lockring. Our assembly greases can be found here.
User tips
How often should I clean my bike? Regular cleaning ensures that your material lasts longer and that you can enjoy your cycling for longer. How often you need to clean depends on the weather conditions in which you ride. Do you cycle through all kinds of weather, or do you only go out when the sun is shining? It all affects the degree of wear and tear and some people will have to clean their bikes more often than others. Use the schedule below as a guide:October to March:
• Clean every 200 km
• Rinse after every ride
• Dry and oil the chain after every ride
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature
April to September:
• Clean every 300 km
• Rinse off after cycling in the rain
• Dry and oil the chain after polishing or rinsing
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature

Precious quality
Tip, cycle with 2 chains and change them every 250 km, this will extend the life of your complete drive train.

Extraordinary good
There is no better cassette in my opinion. Shifts smoothly and is very durable. By riding with two chains it will last at least 9,000 km. Even in the most extreme conditions. Of course, it must be regularly and carefully maintained.
Pros & Cons

good, solid cassette
Replacing the same XX1 rainbow cassette. The one I'm changing has covered 10,000 kms (with careful maintenance and Squirt lubrication). The price is high, but it holds up over time. The treatment holds up better than black or gold.
